Sheikh Rehana, Sajib Wazed, Saima Wazed accused along with Sheikh Hasina

The families of three people who were killed in a clash with the police in the Jatrabari area of the capital during the anti-discrimination student movement’s program filed three murder cases in the court yesterday. In one of these cases, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with her younger sister Sheikh Rehana, son Sajib Wazed (Joy) and daughter Saima Wazed have also been made accused.
Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court Magistrate Tanveer Ahmed has ordered the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the three cases.
The three deceased are Farid Sheikh, a fruit seller of Jatrabari area, Imam Hasan, a college student and Siam, a school student.
The case was filed by his father Sultan Sheikh for the murder of fruit shopkeeper Farid Sheikh. 21 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehana, Sajeeb Wazed and Saima Wazed have been made accused in this case. The other accused are- former Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, former State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak, former Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, former Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas, police. Former Inspector General Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, Former DIG of Police Dhaka Range Syed Nurul Islam, DMP Former Additional Commissioner (DB) Haroon Or Rashid, Joint Commissioner Biplab Kumar Sarkar, Former DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman, Former Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu, Bangladesh Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, Awami League Leader Amir Hossain Amu, Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain, Former Minister of State for Information Mohammad A Arafat, Jatrabari Thana Former Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Hasan.
According to the case, Farid Sheikh was going to the fruit shop on the road in front of the toll plaza on Hanif Udal Road in Jatrabari around 3:30 pm on August 4. Then the police opened fire on the orders of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Farid was seriously injured in police firing. Later he was taken to Mugda Medical College Hospital. He died there on August 6 while undergoing treatment. The case also mentions that from July 15 to August 5 Sheikh Hasina and others cooperated in the murder.
