Almost all the bank booths in the Chittagong port city have been closed since last week.

While the rich have not suffered from the market, there has been unrest among the middle class.

Most of the salary of working people is through the bank. Especially now garment workers are also paid through banks. But you have to rely on the ATM booth to withdraw this money.
Several garment workers told The Daily Morning Glory as the reason for this— Our duty time is from 8 am to 6 pm and the bank branches are closed, so even if we get paid, we have to suffer to withdraw money.

In other cases, the officers and employees of various organizations are also paid through banking channels. They are also facing the same problem. There is no substitute for cash to buy daily necessities.

Seen on the ground — in the case of the rich context is different. They go to different super-shops and buy daily market items. Then there is the facility of card transactions. The middle class is in trouble. Civil society is commenting on these issues.

Those concerned say that the banks are not able to send money to the bank booths due to security in the ongoing situation. Many people say that the banks do not have cash money, so they do not give money at the booth

In a notification of Bangladesh Bank, it is said that no cash withdrawal can be made from an account of more than 2 lakh TK. Due to this, those who are busy businessmen are in extreme crisis. They say business is not going well without cash.

Those concerned hope that the crisis will end soon and the situation will be normal within the next week.

According to the data of Bangladesh Bank, the total number of ATM booths of different banks in the country was 13 thousand 428 at the end of last May. Among them, 9 thousand 409 in urban areas and 4 thousand 19 in rural areas. Cash can also be withdrawn through CRM (Cash Recycling Machine) apart from ATMs. Many private sector banks including BRAC, DBBL, IBBL, City, Dhaka Bank are now leaning towards CRM instead of ATMs. Apart from withdrawing money, the CRM also has the facility to deposit cash. At the end of last May, the number of CRMs in the country has increased to 5,450. Most of these CRMs are in urban areas, 3,985.
