Khankhanabad UP Chairman Jaseem Uddin Haider and Ward No. 3 UP Member and Panel Chairman Shahidul Islam Sikder besides government officials responsible for rice distribution, 10/12 unidentified people have been accused in the case.

Chairman Jasim Uddin Haider has been termed as a member of the government rice thieves gang in the complaint of the case. This incident has created commotion and excitement in Banshkhali.

It is mentioned in the complaint of the case that the government allocated 56 metric tons of rice at the rate of 56 kg per capita for 1000 jails of Khankhanabad Union. (June 11) In the night MP Mujibur Rahman received information from a secret source that out of the 56 tons of rice allocated for fishermen from the Chanpur “food warehouse”, some of the rice was illegally sold and diverted elsewhere to embezzle the money instead of being kept in the food warehouse designated by the Union Parishad with the connivance of the accused.

The next day (June 12) at 8 a.m., the MP arrived at the scene and the laborers hired by the defendants prepared to distribute the rice. Beneficiary fishermen were also queuing up to get rice. At that time, when the MP came and asked the worker and Jasim Uddin Haider how many tons of rice he had, he said that he had 56 tons of rice.

When the MP Mujibu asked to weigh the stacked rice, Jasim Haider said, “You go to the second floor and rest.” We are weighing it. In response, MP Mujibur Rahman said, “I will not go up, I have to weigh it in my presence.”

At that time Jasim Uddin saw the reluctance of Haider and Shahidul Islam and weighed the said rice in the presence of accused, witnesses and local public through them in exchange of 1000 per person. After weighing, it can be seen that there are 40 tons of rice in the warehouse of the Union Parishad.

The remaining 16 tons were not found. When MP Mujibur Rahman asked to see the copy of the challan from UP Secretary Mohammad Jalal Mia, he informed in writing that he did not receive the copy of the challan.

Later, Chairman Jasim Uddin Haider and Shahidul Islam admitted that the rice stocked in the Union Parishad was less.

At that time, when the local crowd got excited after witnessing the corruption of the chairman, the MP Mujibur Rahman immediately assured to take legal action against the accused accused Jasim and Shahidul, they also threatened to MP break the hands and feet of the people present if he did too much.

Advocate Musharraf Hussain Khan, the plaintiff’s lawyer, was contacted to confirm the truth of the case, he said that as the matter is under trial, it is not possible to say much, but he said that the learned court has directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the matter.
