Prevent to unsafe living; Order to cut off illegal connection of three companies in Chattogram  Hill’s

Chattogram  Divisional Commissioner Md. Tofail Islam has ordered to disconnect all illegal water, electricity and gas connections in the mountains to prevent dangerous living and damage caused by landslides.

He gave this instruction at the 28th meeting of Hill Management Committee held at Chattogram  Circuit House on Thursday (June 20) around 3 pm.

According to the information of Chattogram  Metropolitan Police (CMP), there are 5 thousand 300 illegal electricity connections in dangerous hills in Chittagong. These connections are living dangerously in the mountains. There is a risk of landslide due to bad weather.

Meanwhile, The Divisional Commissioner directed the representative of Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Limited to inform whether there is any illegal gas in the hills. He also gave instructions to provide information in this regard after 15 days.
Chattogram  District Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman was present in the meeting.

At that time, WASA Representative said that, We have not provided any water connection to the mountain. If any connection is given for any reason we will disconnect it.

He said, I have hung signboards on 26 hills of Chittagong city. Under no circumstances can mountains be cut. 10 acres of Khas land has been recovered by evicting the illegal occupants from the hills. In the last one year, 51 raids have been conducted in the metropolis alone. 11 families have been evacuated from there.
