A day long consultation and preparatory meetings for interaction between citizens and political leaders was held at Shopno Chaya community center, Joypurhat yesterday.

Rupantor, a USAID IIR backed national NGO organized the program with Ashim Ananda Das, project coordinator in the chair. Local elites, female leaders, political leaders, teachers, youths, students, freedom fighters and local newsmen took part on the program as participants.

Akbarul Hasan Millat, editor, Dainik Sonar Desh, Rajshahi and Hafez Uddin Pintu delivered their speech as facilitators. The organizers formed four group to prepare their suggestions on the topics- the role and responsibility of local government representatives Mayor, district and upazila chairman. Group leaders from each group presented their suggestions regarding the issues.

Later, an open discussion meeting with question answer session was held. The meeting ultimately became an enjoyable interaction program. The meeting was also addressed, among others by district Muktijoddha commander Amzad Hossain, convenor of BNP Joypurhat district unit Golzar Hossain, former Joypurhat Press Club Secretary K M Abdur Rahman Rone, CPB president Comrade Badiuzzaman, staff reporter of The Daily Morning Glory Nazrul Islam, journalist Shahabuddin Ahmed, Sujan Kumar Mandol, Mahbuba Begum, Labonna Rani, Journalist Chhoton, Dr Sazzadul Bari, Rana and Farhana Kamruzzaman etc.
