Kazi Nazrul Islam fought for the goal of building a non-sectarian and humane society

National poet Nazrul Islam’s 125th birth anniversary has been celebrated under the initiative of Sunamkantha Sahitya Parishad. On this occasion a discussion meeting, poetry reading and cultural program were held at the ‘Dainik Sunamkantha’ office at Muktarpara in the Sunamganj city on Saturday evening.
Professor Chitta Ranjan Talukder spoke as the main speaker in the meeting held under the chairmanship of Sunamkantha Sahitya Parishad President Lecturer Dulal Mia and General Secretary Teacher Anup Narayan Talukder. The special speakers in the meeting spoke – writer, poet and researcher Sukhendu Sen, advisor of Sunamkantha Sahitya Parishad Bijan Sen Roy and general secretary of Sylhet Sahitya Parishad Md. Ala Uddin Talukdar.
Among others spoke – Post Master of Sunamganj Main Post Office. Md.Shahjahan, journalist and poet Shamsh Shamim, lecturer Taskir Ali, lecturer Taybur Rahman, vice-president of the organization teachers Sazaur Rahman and Ahmad Nur Albab, finance secretary Shah Md. Kamruzzaman, member teacher Subal Bishwas, Habibullah Ashkir Talukdar, teacher Md. Shamim Ahmed, Teacher Bikash Chanda, Abu Zaker Prince, Shampa Shimu and Banani Talukder etc.
The speakers said in the discussion meeting, “Kazi Nazrul Islam the poet of love, betrayal, equality and humanity, is one of the most important figures of Bengali art, literature and culture. During the anti-British movement at that time, his writings inspired the people of the entire India. In that context, his rebellious spirit emerged, he became a rebel. In poetry, the poet has written countless poems, songs, stories, music, essays, novels and other writings against imperialism, tyranny, oppression, lawlessness, discrimination, exploitation, torture and subjugation Confiscated the book and jailed him. Nazrul became a rebel in prison. He protested against the oppression of the British government. He was the first Bengali poet Who totally wanted India’s independence.”
Nazrul Sangeet was performed on the occasion by Debashree Roy Talukdar and Shampa Shimu, member of Sunamkantha Sahitya Parishad, who were selected as the best in the country in the competition held at the national level in the Nazrul Sangeet category in the National Education Week-2024 A’B’ group of the students of Govt. Satish Chandra Girls’ High School. presented the essay teacher Ahmed Noor Albab. Poems were read by teachers Sazaur Rahman, Monika Dash and Shampa Shimu.
