Cabin facility is being added in four non-stop trains.

Railway authorities are going to introduce cabin facility for the first time in four non-stop trains on Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar route. Train passengers will get this facility from May 28. Railway officials are hoping that the addition of cabin facilities will make the train journey with families more safe, comfortable and convenient.

According to railway sources, the Traffic Transportation Branch of the Railway Director General’s Office has issued instructions to add 3 AC cabins and 1 non-AC cabin in non-stop trains Suvarna Express and Sonar Bangla Express on the Dhaka-Chittagong route. Cabin facilities will be introduced in these two trains with new rakes imported from South Korea.

In the same order of the Traffic Transportation Branch of the Railway Director General’s Office, instructions have been given for the first time to add cabins to the Dhaka-Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar route Cox’s Bazar Express and Tourist Express, which are at the peak of passenger demand. 3 Korean AC cabins are being added in both the trains. You can go to the tourist city of Cox’s Bazar by train.

As per the new decision, Suvarna and Sonar Bangla will continue with 18 rakes. These include 6 Sobhan Chairs, 5 AC Chairs (Soft), 4 Cabins, 2 Guardbrake & Dining Cars and 1 Power Car. The total number of seats in both trains including 132 cabins is 797. As before Suvarna will leave Chittagong at 7:30 AM and Sonar Bangla at 5:30 PM.

The country’s first non-stop train Suvarna Express has been running on the Dhaka-Chittagong route since 1998. After more than two centuries, these trains are now getting cabin facilities. Another non-stop train Sonar Bangla Express is running on Dhaka-Chittagong route since 2016. This train is also getting cabin facility for the first time after almost eight years. Both trains will now run on Korean Rail.

On the other hand, according to the new decision, Cox’s Bazar Express and Tourist Express will run with 16 rakes. These include 7 Shovan Chairs, 3 AC Chairs (Soft), 3 Cabins, 2 Guardbrake & Dining Cars and 1 Power Car. The total number of seats of both trains including 99 cabins is 714. As before, Cox’s Bazar Express will leave Dhaka at 10:30 PM and Tourist Express at 6:30 AM for Cox’s Bazar.

Those concerned said that among the intercity trains running on the Dhaka-Chittagong route, Suvarna and Sonar Bangla Express are in high demand. Because these two trains are non-stop, the destination can be reached quickly. However, those traveling with families were at a disadvantage due to lack of cabin facilities. Now passengers will get the facility of traveling with family members in one cabin.

On the other hand, since the distance between Dhaka and Cox’s Bazar is long, the passengers have been demanding to add cabin facilities to the trains since the launch of this railway last December. Now, as cabin facilities have been added to Cox’s Bazar and Tourist Express trains, that demand of passengers will be met. Traveling by train to Cox’s Bazar, the longest beach city in the world, will be more comfortable.

When asked to know, an official of the Eastern Railway, requesting anonymity, told Purvkon, “I have received instructions to reorganize Korean rakes by adding cabin facilities on Suvarna, Sonar Bangla, Cox’s Bazar and Turisa Express and to change Korean rakes on Mahanagar Godhuli and Turna Express.” We have made all kinds of preparations to implement the instructions of the Railway Director General’s Office.
