Bakbishis’ memorandum to Prime Minister on 10-point demand

Bangladesh College-University Teachers Association (BAKBISHIS), Sunamganj district branch has issued a memorandum of 10-point demand as part of the central program to end all anarchy and discrimination in the education sector. This memorandum was given to the Prime Minister through the Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday, April 30 at 9:30 am. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Bijan Kumar Singh accepted the memorandum on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner.
In the spirit of the Great War of Liberation, the demands of Bakbishi regarding the introduction of a modern science-minded, non-sectarian and non-discriminatory education system and the nationalization of the education system are: 1. In the light of the 1972 Constitution, the National Education Policy announced in 2010 should be fully implemented to formulate and ensure a non-sectarian, science-minded, rational knowledge and action-oriented education curriculum.
2. According to the recommendation of UNESCO, 6 percent of the total GDP of the country should be allocated to the education sector in the national budget.
3. We want the nationalization of the education system, not fragmented and fragmented govt.
4. The ideal student teacher ratio in the classroom should be made 30:1. In addition to ensuring quality education, continuous and adequate training should be provided for teachers to improve their professional skills and standards.
5. Like government teachers-employees, MPO teachers-employees also have to pay 100% festival allowance, house rent and medical allowance.
6. Retired teachers of private educational institutions should be given retirement benefits like government teachers, but until this provision is made, welfare trust and retirement fund money should be paid within three months of retirement.
7. In the light of the National Education Policy of 2010, the posts of associate professors and professors should be created in private colleges.
8. Proportionate placement of private teachers in education administration should be ensured.
9. Independent teacher recruitment commission should be constituted for recruitment, transfer and posting of teachers without delay. The appointment, transfer and promotion of teachers and employees under MPO should be implemented through this commission.
10. Physical-mental oppression and torture on teachers and cultural workers should be stopped.
While presenting the memorandum, District President Assistant Professor Shubhankar Talukdar, Senior Vice President Assistant Professor Ramanuj Roy Saju, General Secretary Assistant Professor Md. Jamal Hossain, Organizing Secretary Lecturer Dulal Mia, Publicity and Publication Secretary Assistant Professor Rajat Kanti Roy, Finance Secretary Lecturer Kanchan Baidya, Member Assistant Librarian Swapan Roy and other teacher leaders were present.
