Sale of sick beef in Rahanpur, Butcher fined

A butcher has been fined Tk 10,000 for selling diseased beef at the college junction of Rahanpur Municipality of Gomstapur Upazila of Chapainawabganj. On the morning of Saturday 09 March, the diseased beef was seized and buried in the ground in the presence of the Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate.
Accused butcher Kalam is the son of deceased Imran Ali of Station Hotathpara Mohalla of Rahanpur Municipality. It is known that butcher Kalam, a meat seller, was slaughtering and selling a diseased cow. At that time, on the basis of secret information, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Kausar Ali went to the spot and told the Upazila Executive Officer Nishat Anjum Ananya, who quickly went to the spot. At that time, if the butcher confessed his guilt in public, he was fined Tk 10,000 under Section 22 of the Animal Slaughter and Meat Quality Control Act 2011 by a mobile court. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nishat Anjum Ananya said that after receiving the news, I quickly visited the shop of the accused businessman. Butcher Kalam was fined after being found guilty of selling diseased beef there. Along with that, about 70 kg of meat has been seized and buried in the ground. All the meat traders of the upazila are being strictly instructed not to sell unfit meat. Upazila Livestock Officer Doctor Kausar Ali said, “We have a message for every butcher to bring the slaughtered animal one day before the animal slaughter and take the certificate from the concerned department and slaughter it the next day. Strict action will be taken against those who violate this rule.
