Main Uddin said, ‘S Alam Sugar Refinery Factory caught fire on March 4 and we controlled the fire at 10:30 p.m. that day, the fire is still burning slowly. We think that even if the fire cannot be completely extinguished by today Inshallah; There may be small pockets but we will assume firefighting.
“The best news is, there was about 116,000 metric tons of raw sugar—80 percent of which we’ve been able to save,” he said.
A five-member investigation committee has been formed in this incident, he said, ‘to learn the reason as well as to learn from here. This is the first such big fire related to sugar in Bangladesh and we have to learn from here.’
