A student named Mehdi Hasan Shakeel (25) died after being crushed under the wheels of a lorry in Durgapur, Netrakona. The incident took place in Kachari More area of the city on Wednesday evening. The deceased student is the son of Abu Raihan Khalifa of Nagarsingha village of Bakaljora union of the upazila. He studied at Munshiganj Polytechnic Institute.

According to eyewitnesses and police sources, student Mehdi Hasan Shakeel was returning home from Durgapur on a motorcycle on Wednesday evening. He was seriously injured by falling under the wheels of a moving sand lorry. Later, the locals rescued him and took him to the Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

In this regard, Durgapur Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Zahirul Islam said that the lorry has been impounded but the driver is absconding. The body was brought to the custody of the police station. Legal action in this regard is under process.
