ATN Bengali correspondent assaulted while gathering news of government tree cutting

The district representative of private TV channel ATN Bengal was assaulted while gathering news while cutting official tree on GK Canal road in Kumarkhali, Kushtia. The incident took place in the area between Ballabpur Shet and Sajipara village of Jaduboyra Union on Monday morning.
The Kushtia district representative of ATN Bengal, KH Tuhin Ahmed, said that Jaduboyra went to the spot after receiving the news of the official tree-cutting festival in Ballabpur area of the union for several days. During the video collection while cutting a banyan tree that is half a century old, Imdadul Haque Khokon, 2nd Ward member of Jaduboyra Union, took 4/5 people with him and created an obstacle. and abused in unspeakable language. And the camera was thrown from the hands of ATN Bengal’s camera person Salauddin Ahmed Major. While protesting, UP member Khokon attacked with indigenous weapons and threatened to kill him. And told Rahim who was with him to call UP Chairman. After receiving the news, Yugantar correspondent Lipu Khandkar, Asian TV correspondent KMR Shaheen, my correspondent Masud Rana rushed to the spot and rescued him with the help of locals. He said that he has given a written complaint to the Kumarkhali police station in this incident.
In this regard, Jaduboyra UP Chairman Mizanur Rahman Mizan said that he does not know anything about tree cutting and he mentioned that cutting government trees is illegal. He expressed regret over UP member’s attack on journalists. Akibul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kumarkhali police station, said that the complaint has been received and legal action will be taken after arresting the culprits.
