The Health Department is being strict in closing unauthorized illegal hospitals and diagnostic centers The Directorate of Health will conduct operations from Sunday (February 25) to close illegal private hospitals and clinics in the district and upazila. Director of Health Department (Hospitals and Clinics) Dr. Abu Hossain Md. Moinul Ahsan said that an operation will be conducted to close illegal hospitals and clinics . Action will be taken if the 10 guidelines are not implemented in the hospital during the campaign.

Earlier on February 8, a letter containing the list of illegal hospitals and clinics was sent to the civil surgeon of 11 districts from the Chittagong divisional health director’s office. The letter directed to take effective measures to stop the activities of unlicensed private hospitals, diagnostic centers, blood banks within 10 working days.

The list identified 118 hospitals and 122 diagnostic centers as unlicensed. Among them, the number of unregistered hospitals in Chittagong district is 6 and diagnostic centers are 11.

Acting Divisional Health Director Iftekhar Ahmed said that the list has been prepared and sent to the Civil Surgeons as per the instructions of the Health Department. They will take action in this regard. A list of establishments operating without a license is also provided.

The civil surgeon and the Chittagong divisional health department ordered the temporary closure of several diagnostic centers and hospitals in Chittagong in January this year due to various complaints including lack of license.

Unauthorized clinics and dental care have been established in Patia upazila. There are 30 diagnostic centers in different parts of the upazila. Most of them are unregistered.

More than 18 unauthorized diagnostic centers and clinics are running unhindered in Anwara. Many private hospitals, labs and diagnostic centers have been established in Banskhali. Recently, the mobile court on behalf of the Upazila Health Department temporarily closed the Banskhali Patient Care Hospital, Matrisadan Hospital, City Diagnostic Center, Mini Lab, Prime Diagnostic Center due to various irregularities.

During the operation of upazila health and family planning officer in 12 diagnostic centers and hospitals in Hathajari, valid documents were not found, various irregularities were found.

A diagnostic center called Model Lab was running illegally without any documents for a year in Takirhat of Phatikchari. Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. closed the lab on February 3 after receiving the news Md Arefin Azim.

Most of the 28 diagnostic centers, 6 private hospitals and clinics in Rangunia Upazila are not registered. But some have applied for registration. Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Raujan ordered to close the Raujan Diagnostic Center, Medico Diagnostic Center, Star Lab Diagnostic Center, Life Care Diagnostic Center and Intensive Diagnostic Center in Sadar in Raujan within 24 hours due to irregularities and not being able to show valid documents to Suman Dhar

There are 33 clinics, labs and diagnostic centers in Mirsrai. There is no special supervision. There are 9 hospitals and 19 diagnostic centers in Satkania. Among them, 9 diagnostic centers are also running under 9 hospitals.
