On January 30, a laborer named Noor Mohammad (35) died on the spot after the roof of the 2nd floor fell on the under-construction building at Plot No. 9 Road No. 135 in Nasirabad Properties area under Khulshi Thana of  Chattogram.  A local person, who did not want to be named, said that the worker named Noor Mohammad has been working in this building for a long time.

On January 31 (Tuesday) at approximately 1.55 pm, while giving water, fell from the 2nd floor and died.  After going to the spot, it was found that this building is a building owned by doctors.  Even though he was a doctor, the authorities did not care about the safety of the workers working in the building under construction.  None of the workers were wearing safety belts, clothing or any type of helmet or eye protection.

A team named Orthopedic Engineer and Architect is working on this building.  When Ali, the engineer in charge of the building, was contacted over the phone to inquire about the safety of the working workers, he did not receive the reporter’s call.

When I spoke to Khulshi police station OC Neemat Ullah about this incident, he said that a laborer died after falling from a building under construction. The body was taken from the spot and sent to Chamek’s forensic lab for post-mortem.
