Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Saber Hossain Chowdhury has instructed the officials of the Department of Forests to take initiatives to expand forest land alongside forest conservation activities.

He directed to emphasize on declaration of new forests through extension of forests on piloting basis. He said that initiatives should be taken to restore the degraded forests in the hilly areas. He also directed to take special initiative to free the encroachment of forest lands which have been dispossessed including Gazipur.
He said these things during an exchange of views meeting with officials during a visit to the Forest Department in Dhaka on Thursday.
During the visit, the Secretary of the Ministry Dr. Farhina Ahmed, Chief Conservator of Forests Md. Amir Hossain Chowdhury, Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests and Sufal Project Director Gobinda Roy along with all the Divisional Forest Officers of the Department of Forests and all over the country were present.
