Advocacy meeting held on child marriage

Advocacy meeting on child abuse, prevention of child marriage and other harmful behavior change were held in Bandarban. On Tuesday (January 23) Bandarban hill district Chairman kyaw shwe hla was present as the chief guest. It was in the meeting held at the BHDC conference room.
Hasina Akter, Director (Promotion and Coordination) of the Directorate of Mass Communication presided over the event. Legal Aid Officer and Senior Assistant Judge Rokeya Akter, Assistant Director of Family Planning Office Dr. Onchalu were present as special guests. UNICEF representative Abdul Jalil (SBC,Chittagong) presented a pictorial report on violence against children, prevention of child marriage.
Journalists, teachers, NGO representatives, hungry students, imams, religious gurus, representatives of various government and private departments and institutions were present in the program organized under the overall supervision By District Information Officer Md. Mizanur Rahman.
Bandarban District Information Office, Directorate of Mass Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting organized this advocacy meeting in collaboration with UNICEF.
In the meeting, violence against children and determination of causes, collection of actual data on child marriage and in the light of this, government and private institutions were invited to work together.
