Thousands of people dream of building a bridge on Kangsh river between Defulia of Banshtala village of Phulpur upazila of Mymensingh and Balijhuri village of Haluaghat upazila.
Since ancient times, the people of Dupar have been crossing with extreme sufferings all year round by rowing boats.
Mojibur Rahman, the lessee of Defulia Ghat, said that this year we have taken the lease of this ghat from the district council for 3 lakh 50 thousand taka. We charge Tk 10 per person for transportation and Tk 20 for motorcycle and get 800 to 900 taka daily.
Haluaghat Upazila Shakuai Union Parishad Chairman Engineer Yunus Ali Khan said that there is no bridge here and there is a lot of suffering. In this regard, there was a discussion with MP Jewel Areng of Haluaghat. He assured to build a bridge soon.
Phulpur Sadar Union Parishad Chairman Russell Fakir said, I have spoken to State Minister Sharif Ahmed in this regard. He assured that effective measures will be taken quickly to build the bridge.
