Closing of training on products including sarees from banana fiber held

A two-month long training in making sarees and other products from banana fiber (flakes or yarn) has been completed in Bandarban.Bandarban District Administration and Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) organized the closing ceremony on Wednesday (December 6).Deputy Commissioner Shah Mujahid Uddin was the chief guest at the event organized at the BCIC office in Ujanipara.Deputy Manager Of Bandarban BSCIS Md.Shamim Alam presided over the event.
Speaking as the chief guest Of DC Bandarban Mujahid Uddin said “like the tourism industry of Bandarban,the handicrafts produced from banana tree fibers have also become known as a huge potential sector. Its demand has also increased day by day.BSCIC’s initiative to develop this potential sector and create skilled manpower is commendable.
Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Rajib Kumar Biswas,Bandarban Press Club President Md.Aminul Islam Bachchu and others were present as special guests.According to sources,52 women participated in this training for two months.All of them were given certificates and financial grants.Incidentally,the inauguration of this two-month long training program was held on September 19.Meanwhile,local women entrepreneurs have called for organizing such training programs in the future to alleviate poverty and create self-employment.
