78.64 pc pass HSC exams, 92,595 get GPA-5
On an average 78.64 percent of the examinees
passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations-
2023 held under 11 education boards of the country.
“Of them, a total of 92,595 candidates got GPA-5 (maximum grade point
average) in the examinations,” Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni told a press
conference at International Mother Language Institute (IMLI) here today.
Among the total examinees, 10, 67,852 students have been successful in the
HSC and equivalent examinations-2023, she said, adding a total of 13, 57,915
students appeared in the HSC and equivalent examinations.
“A total of 92,595 students got the highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5) in
the HSC and equivalent examinations 2023 under 11 education boards, which was
1, 76,282 in 2022.”
Among the GPA-5 holders, 43,230 are male students and 49,365 are female, she
added.
A total of 78,521 students achieved GPA-5 under nine general education
boards, 7,097 students under madrasah education board and 6,977 under
technical education board.
Among the nine general educational boards, in terms of pass rate, Barisal
Board has secured first position with 80.65 percent pass rate, while Dhaka
Board in second position with 79.44 pass rate and Rajshahi Board in third
position with 78.46 percent pass rate.
The pass rate of Cumilla Board is 75.39 percent, while it is 74.48 percent in
Dinajpur Board, 74.45 percent in Chattogram Board, 71.62 percent in Sylhet
Board, 70.44 percent in Mymensingh Board and the lowest 69.88 percent in
Jashore Board which secured top position last year in terms of pass rate.
A total of 953 educational institutions out of 9,187 achieved 100 percent
pass rate, which was 1,330 in 2020, while no students from 42 educational
institutions under eight of 11 Education Boards failed to come out successful
in the examinations.
The number of institutions with hundred percent pass rate are – 46
institutions from Dhaka Board, 37 from Rajshahi Board, 17 from Cumilla Board,
10 from Jashore Board, 12 from Chattagram Board, 13 from Barishal Board, 2
from Sylhet Board, 13 from Dinajpur Board, 2 from Mymensingh Board, 661 from
Madrasa Board and 140 from Technical board.
According to the HSC results , the number of zero pass rate institutions are
– 16 in Dinajpur, seven in Jashore, five in Dhaka, four in Rajshahi, four in
Mymensingh, three in Chattogram, two in Madrasah and one in Cumilla.
As many as 303 students of eight overseas centres came out successful in the
HSC examinations-2023 with 98.39 percent pass rate. A total of 321 students
appeared in the examinations from the overseas centres.
