Durga Puja,the biggest religious festival of Sanatani community,has started in Bandarban in a colorful arrangement with the unveiling of the face of the goddess.This time also the biggest pujamandap in South Chittagong is the main mandap of Bandarban city’s kings Ground.The Minister for Chittagong Hill Tract Affairs Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing (MP) Was present as the chief guest and unveiled the deity at the pavilion of the Central Durga Puja Celebration Parishad at king’s Ground in Bandarban.Later lit the mangal lamp.

At that time,Army Region Commander Brigadier General Golam Mohiuddin Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Shah Mujahid Uddin, Superintendent of Police Saikat Shaheen, Municipal Mayor Md.Shamsul Islam,Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman AKM Jahangir, District Council member Laxmi pada Das were present.Also,Sanatani community leaders including Central Durga Puja Celebration Parishad President Tapas Kanti Das,General Secretary Alak Dhar were present.

In the opening ceremony,Minister Bir Bahadur said, “Religion is everyone’s festival.”That is why Bandarban is a shining example of harmony.Here every caste celebrates Puja Parban festival with joy and all kinds of assistance is being provided by the government.Minister Bir Bahadur also said that,During the current government, everyone is able to celebrate their religion beautifully and this government will work for the development of all religions in the future.

A fair is held on the occasion of Durgotsavam in the mandap of the king’s ground of the city.The place of worship has become crowded with people.The night pujamandap is illuminated with colorful lights.Many devotees have already gathered to see this large puja mandap in South Chittagong.

Durga Puja is being celebrated in 32 pujamandaps in seven upazilas in Bandarban.On the occasion of Durga Puja the members of the law and order forces have strengthened the security system of three levels in each mandap.
