Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) has organized a training workshop on ‘Road Policing Leadership’ for officers of Chittagong Metropolitan Police. This workshop has been organized in Chittagong to increase the capacity of the police to ensure safe roads. This workshop was held at Radisson Blu in the city on Tuesday, September 19. Meanwhile, CMP Commissioner Krishna Pad Roy, BPM (Bar), PPM (Bar) inaugurated the training workshop. In the inaugural session, he said that the police should play a leading role to ensure road safety. But it is not possible for the police alone to implement it. For this all the concerned parties have to work together. GRSP’s Senior Road Policing Adviser Russell Naiman conducted the training workshop. He has worked for more than 30 years in various positions in the UK Police. The workshop emphasizes the ability of police personnel to deal with road safety hazards as per the globally practiced ‘Safe Systems Approach’. As part of the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) programme, GRSP will train a total of 76 officers on road policing today and tomorrow, including 38 from CMP. Traffic Sergeant, Sub-Inspector, Police Inspector, Assistant Commissioner of Police and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police participated in the workshop. Also four engineers of Chittagong City Corporation and two officers of BRTA participated as trainees.
