A young man named Ataur Rahman (30) raped a young woman in Gobindganj upazila of Gaibandha. After that, when the young woman is pregnant, when pressured to marry, she starts making various arguments. Finally, after 3 months of giving birth to a son, the girl got married to Ataur.

After the sensational incident, a crowd of people was seen in Durgapur village of Darbast Union of the upazila on Sunday (September 10) to see the couple.

Locals said that while the girl was staying at her father’s house in that union, Ataur Rahman, the son of Khaja Mia of Chhota Durgapur village, was teasing her in various ways including making bad suggestions. At one stage, on July 25 last year, he raped the young woman by luring her into marriage at around 11 pm when no one was at home. In this incident, the girl became pregnant and pressured Ataur to get married. Ataur said that he will marry her after the birth of the child. But even after having a child, the rapist Ataur continued to threaten and threaten her without marrying. In such a situation, the girl filed a case under the Prevention of Women and Children Act in the court on July 11. After the case, when Gaibandha PBI started investigating the matter, Ataur said to marry the girl and recognize the child along with the settlement proposal of the case. In view of this, their marriage was completed last Thursday (September 7) in the presence of the parents of both parties in a very happy atmosphere. And the child was also in the lap of the girl at the wedding ceremony.

In this regard, a local person named Sakhawat Hossain Harez said that the girl is the daughter of a poor family. Everyone in the area, including me, is happy that his case has been settled. I wish the new couple a happy and peaceful life with their children.
