Government not under foreign pressure on elections: Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen claimed that the government is not under any foreign pressure regarding the election. He made it clear that no one’s arrogance will be tolerated. Even Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina is not afraid of anyone.
Foreign Minister said, we are not under any pressure. Because it is very clear that we will make a beautiful choice. Whether others like it or not, it’s their problem. They will crumble under the pressure, but we will be fine. The foreign minister said this at a press conference organized on Thursday to inform about the preparations for the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit to Delhi.
In the press conference, the minister said that three MoUs will be signed during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to Delhi. One of the most important agreements will be regarding the facilitation of taka-rupee transactions. The MoU will be signed between Bangladesh Bank and NPCI of India.
Momen said that the Prime Minister will go to Delhi to participate in the G-20 Summit from September 8 to 10. Bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be held on the first day of the visit. In addition, there is a possibility of meeting the Prime Minister with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, President of Argentina, South Korea and United Arab Emirates on the sidelines of the conference.
The foreign minister said that a bilateral meeting will be held between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and all bilateral issues will be discussed there.
When asked whether there will be a discussion on the election, he said, “I don’t know.” What we want is regional peace and stability. We are committed to free and fair elections. I don’t want any manipulation.
The foreign minister said, we want transparent and fair elections. If anyone out there can extend a helping hand to us, we will welcome it. But if someone brings the role of matabbari, we will not tolerate it. We are an independent, sovereign country. Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina is not afraid of anyone.
