Prime Minister’s leadership created secular spirit: IGP

IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun said, celebrate any of your festivals in a festive, grand atmosphere. We will do whatever we can to help. Bangladesh Police will always be by your side. Remember that this country became independent through the liberation war.

We are all residents of Bangladesh, we are all Bengalis. We want to live together with this non-sectarian spirit. We will not tolerate the slightest violation of communal harmony. The dream that the father of the nation has shown in the construction of Sonar Bangla is going to be realized today. Responding to Bangabandhu’s call, our brave freedom fighters have proved that this country cannot be communal. We want a society with humane values of non-communal spirit.

The IGP also said that Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Christians freed this country from the shackles of subjugation by joining the liberation war. So this country cannot be a shelter of any evil power. A non-communal spirit has developed in us today because of the government led by the Prime Minister. This non-communal spirit should be in us all. I want to assure you – Honorable Prime Minister says “Religion is everyone’s festival”. We have come today to join in your celebration.

He said, in 2006, I saw people living in huts and mud houses in different parts of the country. But after the Prime Minister took charge, there has been a lot of development in the country. As a result, there are no huts anymore. Shalla upazila has also been declared landless.

He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the 5249th appearance of Lord Krishna, organized by the Ghungiargaon Bazar Kali Mandir Committee at Shalla Upazila headquarters of Sunamganj on Wednesday (September 6) afternoon.

President of Ghungiargaon Bazar Kali Mandir Committee and Bahara UP Chairman Biswajit Chowdhury Nantu spoke and moderated by Champa Talukdar, member of Puja Udjas Parishad Shalla branch, Sylhet Range DIG Shah Mizan Shafiul Rahman, Sunamganj District Commissioner Didare Alam Mohammad Maqsud Chowdhury and Puja Udjas Parishad Shalla branch president spoke. Professor Tarun Kanti Das.

Sunamganj SP Ehsan Shah and Habiganj SP were present in the event.

Earlier, the IGP inaugurated the reconstructed Shalla Thana Jame Masjid and inaugurated the renovation work of Sri Sri Kali Mandir and visited Shalla Thana. On that day at 10:30 a.m., a procession on the occasion of Sri Krishna’s Janmashtami circumambulated the important road of Shalla Sadar. Leaders of Kali Mandir Committee welcomed the northerners before the discussion meeting.
