Finally After 1 Month The Bandarban- Thanchi Road Connection Opened

Road communication with Thanchi Upazila of Bandarban, which was cut off for almost a month due to the collapse of the road due to heavy rains and landslides, has been resumed.On Wednesday (September 6) afternoon, traffic resumed after the construction of an alternative bypass road next to the collapsed road in Pora Bangla area of Chimbuk Thanchi road.Members of Bangladesh Army’s Engineering Department (20 ECB) are working to repair the road.
Traffic has started on Bandarban-Chimbuk- Thanchi road from Wednesday afternoon. This road is very important for tourism.
Tourists use the road to travel to Chimbuk and Nilgiri tourist destinations.Also, this road was the only hope for the people of different local ethnic groups.It is learned that it may take a few more days for heavy vehicles to move.
According to the Army Engineering Department 20 ECB, the 220 meter area collapsed on the Thanchi road due to heavy rains has been cut and an alternative road has been constructed.Apart from this, various parts of the road have been renovated.During the dry season,more renovation work will be done on the road.
Meanwhile,after the renovation of the damaged Bandarbaner-Ruma road, light traffic has started on this road.The Executive Engineer of Bandarban Road and Highway Department Mosleh Uddin Chowdhury said,within a few days,the two roads will be completely restored to normal traffic conditions.Roads and highways department is working on this.It is to be noted that in the first week of last August, due to heavy rains and landslides, various parts of the road collapsed and Ruma and Thanchi upazilas were cut off from Bandarban.The people of these two upazilas have traveled by river for so long.
