A fisherman died when his boat sank due to a storm while fishing in Howare in Sunamganj’s Madhyanagar. The name of the deceased jailer is Nurul Islam alias Karu Mia (47). On Monday (04 September) at around 7:30 am, the locals pulled the mosquito net and recovered the body of the missing fisherman Karu Mia.

The incident took place in the village of Kartikpur of Banshikunda North Union of the upazila at around 1 o’clock in the morning on Sunday.

According to local and police sources, Karu Mia, Azahar Mia, Shah Jahan Mia, Rafiqul Islam and Dulal Mia of that village went fishing in front of the village of Banshikunda North Union Kartikpur village around 1 o’clock on Sunday. In no time, their fishing boat capsized due to the stormy winds. Later, hearing their screams, the fishermen nearby rushed to rescue Azahar Mia, Shah Jahan Mia, Rafiqul Islam and Dulal Mia but could not rescue Karu Mia.
The next day on Monday around 7:30 am, the locals pulled the mosquito net and recovered the body of the missing fisherman Karu Mia.

Madhyanagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Imran Hossain said that after receiving the news of the incident, a GD was made at Madhyanagar Police Station and force was sent to the spot.
