A sapur named Majidul Islam (40) died after being bitten by a pet snake while playing in Gobindganj, Gaibandha.

The incident took place in Rampura (new) market area of Harirampur union of the upazila on Saturday (September 2) afternoon. Majidul Islam is the son of deceased Akalu Mia of Naobhanga village in that union.

Locals said that Majidul Islam had been making a living by showing snake games for almost a century. Following this, in the afternoon he took his pet snakes in a box and went to show the game in Rampura area. At one stage Majidul was seriously injured by a snake bite. Meanwhile, the locals rescued him and took him to the Upazila Health Complex, Majidul died.

Chairman of Harirampur Union. Azharul Islam, head of Biplab, said that a sapuria named Majidul Islam died while showing the game. This is very sad.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gobindganj Police Station. Shamsul Alam Shah said, I heard about the death of a sapur due to snake bite while showing the game.
