BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir termed the news of Jatiya Party (JPA) Secretary General Mujibul Haque Chunnu’s meeting in Singapore as “dirty”. He made this comment in response to questions from reporters at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday evening after returning to Dhaka after 9 days of treatment in Singapore.
Some media of the country including social media reported that Mujibul Haque had a secret meeting with Mirza Fakhrul in Singapore. Journalists want to know about this from Mirza Fakhrul at the airport. In response, he said, ‘I don’t want to talk about them. These are beyond my taste.
Mirza Fakhrul also said, ‘Unfortunately, this government has created such a society, created a world in which there is nothing but filth. Where politicians like them, who were in the liberation war struggle, who are still involved in the democratic struggle, unfortunately, these dirty, lies and rumors about them are spread in the media, spread on social media. Which is a shame to answer.
BNP Secretary General told reporters about the harassment at the airport while traveling abroad. He said, “I came from Singapore after traveling for about four hours. But I had to face all the tactics of harassment. Those of us in opposition, harassed at immigration on the way out, harassed on the way back – it keeps happening. It has become part of their life. I have gone for treatment, but still have to deal with them.’
On August 24, Mirza Fakhrul went to Singapore with his wife Rahat Ara Begum. They were treated at the National University Hospital there. A few years ago Mirza Fakhrul was diagnosed with a block in the internal carotid artery in his neck. He also had complications in the blood flow in the arteries of his neck. Apart from this, he fell down a few days ago and got pain in his back. Apart from this, some physical complications of Mirza Fakhrul have appeared. He had to go to that hospital in Singapore for medical follow-up.
