BNP leader GK Gauch arrested in Dhaka sent to jail after remand

The court rejected the remand and bail application of BNP Central Cooperative Affairs Secretary and former Mayor of Habiganj Municipality GK Gauche, who was arrested on charges of conspiracy to kill former Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhit.
Yesterday Saturday (September 2) Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid gave this order after the hearing.
After two days of remand yesterday, the police produced him in the court. After that DB SI Aftabul Islam applied to remand him for another 10 days for proper investigation of GD. On the other hand, his lawyer applied for bail seeking cancellation of remand. After hearing both sides, the judge granted his remand and bail plea and ordered him to be sent to prison.
Earlier last Tuesday (August 29) at midnight, Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Intelligence Branch (DB) arrested GK Gauch. The next day, Wednesday (August 30), the police produced him in court. After that DB SI Aftabul Islam applied to take him on remand for 10 days for proper investigation of GD. After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid granted his two-day remand.
According to the complaint of the GD, the investigating officer mentioned that GK Gouch conspired and planned to kill the then Habiganj Sadar and Lakhai Constituency Member of Parliament Advocate Abu Zahir and the then Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhit. A case was filed against him in Habiganj Sadar Model Police Station on August 28, 2015 in this incident. After the incident, GK Gauch was hiding in Dhaka and its surrounding areas.
The investigating officer also said that GK Gauch should be taken into police custody and remanded in 10 days for questioning in order to unravel the mystery of the murder conspiracy and arrest the other absconding accused in the case.
BNP leaders and activists clashed with the police during a march organized by BNP in Habiganj district on August 19. In this incident, on August 21, the police filed two separate cases against about 700 leaders and activists, making GK Gauch the main accused. In that case, 183 BNP leaders and activists of Habiganj along with GK Gauch applied for bail in the High Court on Tuesday. After the hearing in the afternoon, the double bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice MD Aminul Islam granted them six weeks anticipatory bail.
After that Habiganj District Volunteer Party Member Secretary Emdadul Haque Imran said that GK Gauch offered Maghrib prayers after receiving bail from the High Court. After that, when he came out of the court area, the DB police picked him up.
