Govt will yield to public pressure: Gayeshwar
Dhaka/
Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, said that the government must surrender to the pressure of 18 crore people.
He made this comment in response to the questions of journalists after paying tribute to the tomb of party founder Ziaur Rahman on the occasion of the 45th founding anniversary of BNP on Friday.
When asked whether foreigners are supporting BNP or not, he said, ‘We are fighting for democracy. They (foreigners) are speaking for democracy. Foreigners want to see justice in this country, they want people’s rights not to be lost, they speak about human rights, they speak against murders and disappearances. So we have nothing to ask here. They are speaking for the people of our country from their own consideration.
He said, ‘BNP’s promise is to establish social justice, establish multi-party democracy, establish people’s right to vote and establish people’s constitutional rights in the constitution. We are fighting on the streets as per that promise. There is no option to stand until the end. 18 crore people of the country are standing. So even if a political party is defeated, the people are never defeated. We think that the government will surrender to the pressure of 18 crore people of the country. Democracy and voting rights will be established in the country.
