Yoghurt is being made in unhygienic environment in Nurpur area of Shaistaganj of Habiganj district. Though made in Shaistaganj, these curds are sold as ‘Bogur’s curd’ in Habiganj and surrounding districts. When such news is published in national and local newspapers, it comes to the attention of the court. In this incident, the Habiganj District Safe Food Inspector has been ordered to report on the spot within 24 September. The learned senior judicial magistrate of Habiganj, Md. Zakir Hossain, gave this order on Thursday.
With that, if it is possible to uncover the incident, the investigating officer is instructed to file a regular case if necessary, and the Habiganj Civil Surgeon is instructed to supervise the matter.
Incidentally, curd is being made in a dirty environment in a house in Nurpur Kanthaltali area of Shaistaganj upazila. Milk is being burnt in rusty tin drums. There are many flies flying around. Dead flies are also seen on prepared yogurt. For almost 2 years, a person named Saiful Islam has been preparing and marketing curd by renting this house. Although it is made in Shaistaganj, they sell it as Bogra. Apart from this, the weight of 1 kg of yogurt is only 500 to 600 grams. As a result, buyers are cheating. Various harmful chemicals and dyes are used in making this curd. As a result, consumers are suffering from various stomach problems including stomach pain. These curds are sold by ferries at railway stations, bus stops and various markets. They sell yogurt at 180 to 220 taka per kg. When the news came to the attention of the court, this order was given.
