Death of an old woman while picking rice in Saghata

An old man named Chaydar Rahman (72) died while buying rice for the food friendly program in Ulyasonatla market of Saghata upazila of Gaibandha.
Police recovered the body of the deceased on Thursday (August 24) afternoon and sent it to Gaibandha morgue for post-mortem.
The deceased Chhaydar Ali was a resident of Gachabari village of Kachua union of that upazila.
Locals said, on Wednesday (August 23) afternoon, food-friendly program rice was being distributed in Ulyasonatala market area of Kachua Union of the upazila. At that time Chhaydar Rahman went to take the initiative of that program. At one stage, the old man had an argument with a rice merchant about the sale of rice. During the scuffle, the old man fell to the ground. Later he was rescued and died on the way to Sabuj Bangla Hospital in a van. After receiving information about this incident, the police recovered Chhaydar Rahman’s body. However, the locals believe that he died of a heart attack due to fear.
In this regard, Saghata Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rakib Hossain told CNBangladesh that the body of a man named Chhaydar Rahman was recovered and sent to Gaibandha morgue.
