Shaistaganj correspondent of Daily Manabzamin newspaper Shah Mostafa Kamal was assaulted on the train for taking pictures of illegal passengers being picked up in the power car of inter-city Kalani Express train at Shaistaganj railway station. Not only that, at one point he was pushed from the train and thrown near the GRP police outpost. However, at that time, the railway police was in a passive role. This incident happened yesterday Saturday (August 12) around 9 am.
Injured journalist Mustafa Kamal said that the Kalni train has been carrying passengers illegally for a long time. Operators are carrying passengers at risk even inside the train’s power unit power car. Yesterday morning, when the Kalni train arrived at Shaistaganj Junction, he was staying in the station master’s room taking pictures of the illegal pick-up of passengers in the power car.
At that time, some staff led by Moktar, the operator of the power car, came down from the train and grabbed the journalist Mustafa Kamal from the station master’s room in a filmy manner and took him on the train. Later they beat him severely and threw him out of the moving train with serious injuries. Local journalists and local residents became extremely angry in this incident.
Station master Moajjul Haque said, “They did not listen to the journalist when he stopped them. The higher authorities of the railways have been informed in this regard. Action will be taken against the culprits.
