Football means extra pressure of expectations on Brazil. Be it boys’ or girls’ football. It doesn’t matter if it’s the World Cup.

Like the boys, the girls also did well in the FIFA World Cup. Couldn’t win the title though. However, out of eight tournaments, the Selecao women finished third at the 1999 World Cup. Runners up in 2007 event. They are the ones who have left the group stage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup held in Australia-New Zealand.

Marta-Devinha-Adriana ended in a goalless draw against Jamaica in the last match of the group stage on Wednesday. Shamefully retired from the World Cup.

But Brazil is stuck in the FIFA ranking. Jamaica is at number 43 there. Brazil was expected to win. Seleção Women needed to win by any margin to advance to the next round. But Marta-Adriana could not score any goals.

Brazil opened the group stage with an impressive 4-0 win over Panama. They lost 2-1 against France in the second match. On the other hand, Jamaica made it to the second round of the tournament by defeating Brazil after defeating France by a goalless margin.

Earlier, Argentina women’s football team lost 2-0 against Sweden and exited the tournament in the group stage. Argentina started the season with a 1-0 loss against Italy. drew 2-2 against South Africa. Italy also left their group.
