Weaver Radhavati Devi of Kamalganj, Moulvibazar, the inventor of Kalabati saree gifted to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was felicitated on Thursday afternoon (July 27).

The reception was organized by the Adampur Union Parishad of the upazila. At the end of the reception, a joyous procession came out with him from the Union residents.

Adampur Union Parishad Chairman Abdal Hossain presided over the function as Chief Guest, Kamalganj Upazila Parishad Female Vice Chairman Bilkis Begum.
UP members Roshan Ali, Azim Uddin, Monir Ali, women members Gulnahar Beni, Zarina Begum and others were special guests in the program moderated by journalist Shabbir Elahi.
The felicitated woman Radhavati Devi said, ‘I am very happy to meet the Prime Minister. And I was even more happy when the Prime Minister took me by the hand and took a picture and gave me a gift.

Adampur Union Parishad Chairman Abdal Hossain said, ‘Radhavati Devi has opened a new horizon in the weaving industry by making sarees from the yarn of banana trees. Now it needs research and sponsorship to develop it commercially. In just 15 days, Basindha Radhavati of my union has woven a 12 hand long saree.
