7 killed in Sylhet-Kompaniganj highway accident

7 people died in a head-on collision between a microbus and a gas-powered auto-rickshaw on the Sylhet-Kompaniganj highway.
This tragic accident took place at a place called Sundragaon under Goainghat police station on the Sylhet-Kompaniganj highway on Thursday (July 20) around 8:30 am.
Among the seven killed, six were autorickshaw passengers. Another microbus driver was killed. Four of them have been identified.
They are Md. Idris Ali (40), Kazi Amir Uddin (50), Md. Kalan Mia and Taher. The deceased was the driver of Taher Microbus. His house is in Dhaka’s Roy Bazar. The houses of the remaining three deceased are in Companiganj upazila.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Goainghat Police Station KM Nazrul Islam said that 7 people were killed in this accident. So far we have identified four people. Attempts are being made to identify the remaining three.
According to police and local sources, when the microbus (Dhaka Metro-Ch 19-7462) leaving from Sylhet reached Sundragaon around 8:30 in the morning, the front right wheel of the vehicle exploded and lost control and collided head-on with an unregistered autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction. Meanwhile, both the cars fell into the ditch on the side of the road. It caused casualties.
