Hero Alam is more popular than Awami League: M. Shahjahan Omar
Staff Reporter/
Vice Chairman of BNP, Veer Muktijoddha, Barrister M. Shahjahan Omar (Bir Uttam) said that fair elections are not possible under Awami League, it is now recognized internationally. Yesterday, in Dhaka 17 constituencies without opposition party, Yunuber Hero Alam was losing the election and attacked him naked during the polling. They are also afraid of Hero Alam’s popularity. Hero Alam is now more popular than Awami League. Yesterday’s farce election proved that fair election is never possible under Awami League. Now all the democracy-loving countries of the world have come to the side of the freedom-loving people of Bangladesh. The victory of the oppressed people of the country is assured.
He said these things in the speech of the chief guest in the short rally organized in front of the Sylhet central Shaheed Minar at the end of the padayatra program organized by BNP in Sylhet district and metropolitan BNP as a part of the central announced program of BNP on Tuesday afternoon. The march program started from the Sylhet registry ground and after circling the main main road of the city, it ended in front of the central Shaheed Minar.
He also said that the Awami League government has shown failure in all aspects of running the country. They have taken away all basic rights of the people including voting rights, freedom of speech. The common people of the country are spending their days in starvation. BNP has been agitating on the streets for 14 years with various demands to get democracy back. The common people of the country are taking part in this movement. But the government does not understand the language of the people. Awami League has pushed the country towards a deep crisis. It is not possible to free the country from the crisis without the resignation of this government and holding elections under a neutral government. So now the movement is no longer about basic demands, now we have only one demand. The pending fascist government should resign and hold parliamentary elections under a non-partisan and impartial government. No leader or activist of BNP will leave the streets until this demand is met. Soon the fascist government will fall and a people’s government will be established in the country, inshallah.
Under the chairmanship of Sylhet Metropolitan BNP President Nasim Hossain, Sylhet District BNP General Secretary Advocate Emran Ahmad Chowdhury and Metropolitan BNP General Secretary Imdad Hossain Chowdhury, the chief speaker was Khandkar Abdul Muktadir, Advisor to BNP Chairperson.
In the speech of the main speaker, BNP Chairperson’s advisor Khandaker Abdul Muktadir said that this government was not elected by the people’s votes, so they do not accept the people’s fair demands. Awami League is now afraid of Hero Alam. So they don’t want to hold elections under a neutral government. That’s why we along with the countrymen have come to the streets to demand the resignation of the government and elections under a neutral government. I will return home after making the claim, inshallah.
