Mahmudur Rahman Manna, President of Nagorika Oikya, said that it has been proven in the last 15 years that people will not be able to vote if this government is in power.
He said this during the march of the alliance of six parties in agitation with BNP.
The leaders and activists of this alliance started the march from Mirpur No. 12 around 12:30 pm on Tuesday. Their march ends at Mirpur No. 10.
In a short rally in Mirpur before the start of the march, the leaders of the democracy stage complained that the ruling Awami League had to rig the election to win the election even without the opposition party. Political death of Awami League happened long ago.
At that time, Jonaid Saki, the chief coordinator of the Mass Solidarity Movement, said that the ruling party did not dare to challenge Hero Alam. There too they have to stamp their ballots.
Harshly criticizing the role of the law and order forces during the attack on Hero Alam, he said that this police will remain neutral in the upcoming parliamentary elections – no one believes this anymore. Those who are running the forces of the government want to keep Awami League in power even if the vote is rigged.
Saiful Haque, general secretary of Revolutionary Workers Party, said in a short rally before the march that even if there is no opposition party in the election, this government has to steal votes. Their political death happened long ago. The recently held by-election of Dhaka-17 constituencies is an example of how the upcoming national parliament elections will be.
In his presidential speech, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) president ASM Abdur Rab said, “If the attack on Hero Alam is peaceful, we will not go for such a peaceful election.”
General Secretary of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) Shahid Uddin Mahmud Swapan presided over the rally. After the rally, the leaders and activists of the democracy stage marched towards square number 10 of Mirpur.
