His two cousins died after drowning in the pond near their house in Banyachang. The incident took place in North Sangar village of Mandari Union of the upazila on Sunday afternoon.

The two deceased sisters are Mahmuda Akhtar (4) daughter of Kazi Amirul Islam and Fatema Akhtar (3) daughter of Kazi Imran.

Locals said that Mahmuda Akhtar and Fatema Akhtar left the house on Sunday afternoon. After not seeing the two children for a long time, the family started searching for them. Not being able to find them in the surrounding houses, the relatives looked for them in the pond next to the house. At one point they were found unconscious in the water of the pond. Later they were rescued and taken to Habiganj Modern Sadar Hospital where the doctor on duty declared them dead.

Dr. Habiganj Modern Sadar Hospital’s duty doctor confirmed this. Sushmita Saha said that they died before reaching the hospital.
