A young man named Farid Mia (43) has gone missing after his boat sank in Companyganj, Sylhet. Missing Farid Mia is the son of deceased Saheb Ali of Lambakandi village of Paschim Islampur Union of Upazila. He is a stone worker by profession.

The incident took place at 5 am on Wednesday (July 12) in West Hower of Lombakandi. Companyganj Upazila Executive Officer Lusikant Hajong confirmed the marriage.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Lusikant Hajong said that 45 workers were going to Chelagang from Lambakandi village for limestone work in a boat on their way to the western Haor of Lambakandi. Among them, 44 people were rescued but Farid Miah is not found. Deputies are on scene. The search is being conducted by the fire service diving team, along with the police and the upazila administration.
