The police recovered the body of Ofik Mia (43), who went missing in the Dhalai river of Sylhet’s Companyganj upazila. His body was found floating in the Dhalai river at 5 am on Monday, 56 hours after he went missing. He is the son of deceased Haji Muhibur Rahman of Kalibari village.

On Friday (July 7) at around 9:30 pm, he went missing after the boat sank due to a rock at the source of Dhalai river.

Locals said that last Friday night, they went together with 4 people to fetch stones from the source of Dhalai river. Then the Barki boat sank in the strong current. At that time, 3 others managed to swim to the shore, but Ofik Mia drowned in the strong current. Since then, the local and fire service diving teams have not found him after many searches. Later on Monday at 5 am, locals saw the body floating in the river east of the railway bunker. Later they informed the police and the police came and recovered the body.

SI Janardhan Talukder said that the body has been recovered. A report is prepared and further legal action is taken.
