Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Sharfuddin Ahmed said, ‘Posthumous body donation can make a great contribution to medical, education, research and skill enhancement. Postmortem donation is a noble act and has significance for the afterlife as well. Plastination Lab of Anatomy Department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University has a system for preserving this type of body. The present administration of the university is working to encourage posthumous body donation. Not only post-mortem organ donation, cadaveric transplant from a brain-dead patient can save 8 lives. The current administration of the university continues its relentless efforts to encourage that cadaveric transplant program as well. Cadaveric transplant has already been done for the first time in Bangladesh. Even for the first time, a rare felicitation ceremony has been organized for those who have pledged posthumous donation and for the relatives of those who have donated.’ Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Sharfuddin Ahmed said these things while receiving the posthumous body of Shipra Bose, the organizer of Ganajagran Manch, recently passed away in front of Sheikh Russell Fountain of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on Thursday. The organizers of Ganajagran Manch handed over the posthumous body. Vice-Chancellor pays tribute to Shipra Bose with flowers. At this time, Dr. Imran H. Sarkar, the organizer of Ganajagran Manch along with the teachers of Anatomy Department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University and others were present.
