Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP, said, “The government has engaged in a multi-faceted conspiracy to usurp its power by stealing votes in the upcoming parliamentary elections. It is planning to perpetuate the power by undermining the power of the Election Commission. Basically, the obedient EC is a machine to re-elect them.’

Rizvi said these things in a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan office on Thursday afternoon. He said that the weak voice of the government leaders is like camphor. Their dialogue is lost in the air before it hits the ground. In the contradictory statements of Awami leaders about the dialogue, they have been considered as the spokesperson of the national joke to the people. Joking with the nation is the ‘popular culture’ of Awami League.

Rizvi also said that the anger of the ruling group started burning when they heard about the non-partisan neutral government. Of course re-establishment of non-partisan neutral government system will be the main basis or agenda of dialogue or any discussion. Because they destroyed all the democratic institutions of the country.

The leader of BNP said that the MPs passed the Representation of the People Order (RPO) amendment bill on the proposal of the Election Commission by taking away the power to cancel the entire vote. The precedent set by the Election Commission by ‘selling’ its independence is unprecedented in the history of the world. The power of the Election Commission to cancel the ongoing election due to violation of the election law has been taken away.

The BNP spokesperson said that earlier there was a provision to pay micro-loans and telephone, gas, electricity and water bills at least seven days before filing nomination papers. Now, to encourage corrupt, looters, defaulters to participate in the elections, payment has been made up to the day before the filing of nomination papers. It is a masterplan to block free, fair, participatory and impartial elections under a non-partisan neutral government. There has been a strong demand for free and fair upcoming parliamentary elections from both domestic and foreign quarters. There, the government took away the existing powers of the Election Commission and proceeded towards unilateral elections.

The senior joint secretary general of BNP said that the bureaucrats are not paying any attention to the law. In their pursuit of the illusion of power, they have become reckless in trampling principles, morals and laws of the state. Directly addressing political meetings in violation of employment rules.

Reports of attacks and cases across the country were presented at the press conference. Besides, videos of attacks on activists were shown. At this time, it was informed that 225 cases have been filed against BNP activists and 865 people have been arrested in the last one and a half months. More than 10 thousand activists have been accused.

BNP Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu, executive committee member Aminul Islam, Abdus Sattar Patwari, Tariqul Islam Tenzing, Khan Rabiul Islam and others were present in the press conference.
