A motorcycle-riding teacher named Medehi Hasan Nayan (45) was killed in a bus accident in Matherbazar area of Betkapa Union of Palashbari Upazila of Gaibandhar. At that time, his son Nahid (8) who was with him was seriously injured.

The accident took place on Tuesday (June 27) around 11:15 am on the Gaibandha-Palashbari road.

The deceased is the son of Ataur Rahman of Janipur village of Khordkomarpur union of Sadullapur upazila of Medehi district. He was an assistant teacher in the local Chakabhagbanpur Government Primary School.

Eyewitnesses said that in the morning, Nayan was going towards Palashbari with his son Nahid on a motorcycle to fetch petrol from a filling station in Matherbazar area. On the way, a Dhaka-bound Unity Paribahan bus from Gaibandha hit his motorcycle. Nayan was killed on the spot. And son Nahid was rescued and admitted to Rangpur Medical College (Ramek) Hospital in a serious condition.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Palashbari Police Station Masud Rana said that the driver escaped but the killer bus has been impounded.
