BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir commented that the current government has “lost international support”. He said, “Sheikh Hasina (Prime Minister) has understood that the international community does not want to see her in power anymore.” They do not have the support of the people of the country. Everyone at home and abroad is saying that the government should go now. Sheikh Hasina should resign and give power to a neutral government. It is clear – there will be no election under Sheikh Hasina in this country.

Mirza Fakhrul said that the government is again planning to keep the BNP out of the elections, saying, “To be clear, the BNP will go to the elections, but it will participate in the elections that will be held under a non-partisan neutral government.” And without BNP, there will be no vote in this country, it will not be allowed.

He said these things at a short rally organized by Jatiyatavadi Sramik Dal at Badda in the capital on Friday afternoon.

The march was held on ’10-point demands including load shedding of electricity, rise in commodity prices, protest against corruption and resignation of the government’. The march starts from in front of Subastu Tower in Badda and goes up to Malibagh Abul Hotel intersection. Thousands of labor party leaders participated in it. Due to this program, massive traffic jams are created on the roads and common people suffer.

Mirza Fakhrul said in a short rally before the march, “The government has taken away people’s rights.” They took away people’s right to vote, workers’ right to live. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister is saying things that are putting the country in danger. He says that the United States wants to remove him. But no one expected such words from a Prime Minister. That means he has understood that the international system is not in his favor. He has no support in Bangladesh either. Because the people of Bangladesh are saying only one thing, you leave right now.’

Fakhrul commented that “elections have never been fair under Awami League, nor will they be in the future.” They say that elections are fair during their time. To be clear, this government has never had a fair election. If this government is in power, the next election will not be fair.

He said, “The government took away the voting rights of the people and talked about elections again. They want to come to power through the vote again. Elections have now become the government’s game.

Mirza Fakhrul said that the government looted the country’s money and smuggled it abroad, they looted the banks and destroyed the economy. Education system, judiciary, health sector including everything is on the verge of destruction today.

He said, “Awami League is staying in power by force. They speak loudly. If you protest, the assault case may even disappear. If you go to file a case with the police about justice, you are involved in the opposite case. Irregularities everywhere.

BNP Secretary General said, ‘This government has detained the leaders because they are afraid of people’s movement. Dhaka Metropolitan South Member Secretary Rafiqul Alam has been detained day after day. Bail is not being given. Saiful Alam Nirab, the former president of Juba Dal, has detained the present general secretary of Juba Dal, Monayem Munna. Many other activists have been detained in prison. The most important thing is that national leader Khaleda Zia, who is the mother of democracy in this country, has been detained in an ill condition.

Referring to the ‘occupying government’ of the ruling party, the Secretary General of BNP said, ‘They have made life miserable for the people of the country by force. Workers are not getting fair wages. The prices of daily necessities including rice, pulses, oil, salt have increased abnormally. Ordinary working people are not able to buy it at all.

Sramik Dal Dhaka Metropolitan South Member Secretary Badrul Alam and Dhaka Metropolitan North Member Secretary Kamrul Zaman also spoke in the rally – BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan, Labor Affairs Co-Editor Humayun Kabir Khan, Feroz Uz Zaman, Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP Ishraq Hossain, Youth Dal’s Mamun Hasan and others.

Also participated in the march – BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Aman Ullah Aman, Abdus Salam, Central Leader Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Kamruzzaman Ratan, Mahanagar North BNP Aminul Haque, Sramik Dal Central President Syed Anwar Hossain and others.
