The law and order meeting was boycotted after the UP chairmen were called ‘cows and goats’. The incident took place in the Atpara Upazila Parishad hall of the district at 10 am on Thursday during the law and order committee meeting. Upazila Parishad Chairman Haji Md Khairul Islam, Executive Officer Md Shakeel Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md Mostafizur Rahman, officials of various departments, vice chairmen were present. UP Chairman Akhil Chandra Das said, ‘Yesterday, we boycotted the meeting as Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Shakeel Ahmed called all our UP chairmen as cows and goats.’ UP Chairman Md Shahjahan Kabir said, ‘We will inform the local MP along with the higher authorities.’ Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Shakeel Ahmed was contacted on mobile phone about this and he denied that statement.
