In Sundarganj, Gaibandha, family members used to torture a housewife on various pretexts for not agreeing to her father-in-law’s bad proposal. The housewife named Razia Begum (21) killed Nanad Sadia Akhtar (5) in revenge for this torture. Police arrested the housewife on such charges.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sundarganj Police Station KM Azmiruzzaman confirmed the matter on Tuesday (June 20) afternoon. The arrested Razia Begum is the wife of Noor Mohammad of Bhati Burail (Kaderer Char) village of Kapasia Union of Upazila.

According to the police, her father-in-law Saiful Islam used to give immoral and bad suggestions to the housewife Razia Begum. Family members used to torture him on various pretexts for not agreeing to his father-in-law’s evil proposal. On Monday (June 19), Nanad killed Sadia Akhtar by strangulation and drowned her in a pond next to her house and covered her with grass to avenge the inhuman torture. On receiving information, the police recovered the body of child Sadia from the spot and sent it to Gaibandha Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Later, the police arrested Sadia’s sister-in-law Razia Begum and revealed the mystery of the murder on the basis of various informations. Razia Begum confessed to the murder during police interrogation.

OC KM Azmiruzzaman said that housewife Razia Begum was arrested and sent to jail through the court in connection with the murder of child Sadia.
