President invites Vietnamese investments as new envoy presents credentials
DHAKA
President Mohammed Shahabuddin urged the Vietnamese investors to invest in various sectors of Bangladesh when the new Vietnamese resident-designate ambassador to Bangladesh Nguyn Manh Cuong presented his credentials to him at Bangabhaban here today. Welcoming the new ambassador, the President referred to the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s diplomatic relations with Vietnam, saying, “It is a milestone in the relationship between the two countries.” Appreciating Vietnam’s socio-economic development, the President also asked Vietnam to import world-class products including medicine, ready-made garments, leather and ceramics. During the meeting, the new Vietnamese ambassador praised the socioeconomic development of Bangladesh, President’s press secretary Joynal Abedin told the newsmen in a briefing. The envoy said Vietnam is interested in increasing trade and investment ties with Bangladesh. The ambassador sought the cooperation of the President in fulfilling his assignments. Earlier, a horse-mounted Presidential Guard Regiment (PGR) gave a guard of honor to the envoy on his arrival at Bangabhaban. President’s Office Secretary Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salahuddin Islam and Secretary (Attachment) Md Wahidul Islam Khan were present at the time.
