The law enforcement agencies will take special measures at 24 traffic jam-prone points across the country to ensure hassle-free journey for the home-bound people during the Eid-ul-Azha. In addition, the Home Ministry has planned to deploy adequate personnel from police, intelligence agencies and RAB who will patrol at bus, launch terminals and train stations as well as temporary cattle markets in order to check criminal acts, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan at a press briefing after a law and order meeting at his ministry here today. “Police along with the members of the intelligence agencies and RAB will beef up its patrol at bus, launch terminals and train stations as well as temporary cattle markets in order to check activities of muggers, aggyan party and malam party,” he added. “The entire country would be brought under stringent security measures for peaceful celebration of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of the Muslims, across the country, the minister said. As part of the government’s decision, Kamal said all garment factory owners have been requested to disburse the salary (for 15 days of June) and bonus of their workers before the Eid vacation. Senior Secretary of the Public Security Division of the Home Ministry Md Mustafizur Rahman and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun were present at the briefing. “No temporary cattle markets will be allowed on the roadside or adjacent to the highways. Measure will be taken so that the cattle markets cannot occupy the roads and highways and create traffic jams,” he added. The Home Minister said a total of 4,399 temporary cattle markets will be set up across the country on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. “We will install watch towers and Close Circuit Cameras (CCCs) and temporary police camps at cattle markets. For smooth financial transactions, ATM booths will also be set up there,” he said. “Without any specific information, none can stop cattle loaded-transports on the highways across the country, while banner will set up on the transport mentioning name of the cattle market. Intelligence agencies, highway police and Ansars will be there to ensure smooth movement of transports carrying sacrificial animals,” said the Home Minister.  “During the Eid vacation, Industrial Police and personal security members will ensure security of the garments and other industries,” said Kamal.  He said the law enforcement agencies have been asked to be active at different strategic points in the cities, including bus terminals, railway stations, river-ports, launch and ferry ghats, to prevent any untoward situation. Several patrol teams would patrol in the big cities’ exit and entry points to ensure smooth movement of motor vehicles during the Eid period and maintain law and order. “Law enforcers, particularly highway police alongside the RAB would beef up monitoring on the highways for safe and smooth journey of homebound people,” he added. The law enforcing agencies will remain vigilant to check crimes in the capital. The CC cameras will be installed at different points before, during and after the Eid, Kamal said. Secretaries from different ministries, representatives of law enforcement agencies including Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Bangladesh Coast Guard, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, RAB, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Fire Service and Civil Defence and the Home Ministry officials joined the meeting.
