Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud toady said BNP has proved that it was their own statement as the party didn’t take any actions against its Sirajganj leader who issued threat to kill the prime minister. Few days ago BNP Rajshahi unit convenor issued threat to kill Jananethri Sheikh Hasina. And now, BNP Sirajganj district unit joint general secretary Rashedul Hasan Ranjan gave same threat to the premier. In fact, those statements of their leaders are clear manifestation of the party’s evil motive to harm the prime minister, he said. The minister made the remarks while replying to a query of reporters at the meeting room of the ministry at secretariat here. Hasan said the anti-liberation evil forces from home and abroad killed the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman after failing to face him politically. Now, BNP and its cohorts have failed to face Sheikh Hasina politically, he said. He said Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has got the responsibility to run the state through people’s verdict for three consecutive terms. But, being failed to face the Sheikh Hasina’s government politically they are hatching conspiracy like 1975. Hasan said BNP is hatching conspiracies to eliminate Jananethri Sheikh Hasina and to hand over the country to evil forces through creating an unstable situation. But, the people of the country would not allow them to do that, he added. He condemned the statement of Sirajganj BNP leader saying BNP should have taken step against the BNP leader. Replying to another query over a statement of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on caretaker government, the information minister said the statement is as usual. According to the constitution, the present government will perform as the polls-time government and incumbent Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will perform as the premier during election-period, he noted.

He said the next elections will be held like all other democratic countries including India, the UK, Australia, Japan, New Zealand and different countries of Continental Europe. There will be no scope of violating the constitution, he added. He said the BNP’s caretaker government demand didn’t get any support from international community. Even, the US didn’t support their demand, he continued. Over Chinese statement on the US visa policy, Hasan said, “Our foreign policy is ‘Friendship to all, malice towards none’. We see different position of the US and China on different global issues. In this case, China has commented on the US visa policy too. We are monitoring it. We have very fantastic relations with both the countries.” He said, “The US is our development partner and the country has an important role on the way of 51 years of journey of Bangladesh. We are working with the aim of strengthening the relation with them. China is also our development partner and the country has a pivotal role in the infrastructure development of Bangladesh.” Earlier in the morning, the information and broadcasting minister visited Jamalkhan area in Chattogram where BNP leaders and activists vandalized murals and paintings of Bangabandhu and other heroes of anti-British movement and liberation war in 1971.  BNP is dreaming to run the country again, but the country can never be safe in the hands of those who destroy the history, heritage and culture of Bangladesh, Hasan said adding that BNP leaders cannot avoid the responsibility in any way. The minister said a case has already been lodged and some were arrested. The councilor of the Jamalkhan ward informed the minister that the unique portraits and murals will be made again and restored like before. AL relief and social welfare secretary Aminul Islam Amin, Jamakhan ward councilor Shaibal Das, and local Awami League leaders were present.
